Child Safety

The safety, wellbeing, and dignity of every child in our care is our highest priority. Child safety is not just a policy at our preschool — it is central to who we are and how we work every day.

From the thoughtful design of our learning environments to the ongoing training and professionalism of our educators, safety is embedded into every aspect of our practice. We are committed to acting with care, integrity, and transparency, creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, respected, and supported.

Families place their trust in us, and we honour that trust by leading with responsibility, compassion, and a genuine commitment to every child’s wellbeing.

Every Educator is a Mandatory Reporter

All educators at our preschool are trained and legally required to report any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing. Clear reporting procedures are followed immediately and without exception.

Visible and Supportive Leadership

Our service is led by a visible and approachable leadership team who are present throughout the day, working alongside educators to support practice and ensure high standards of care and safety are consistently maintained.

A Culture of Speaking Up

We encourage children, educators, and families to share concerns, ask questions, and speak openly. By fostering a culture of trust and respect, we ensure concerns are listened to and responded to with care.

Strong Partnerships with Families

We work in partnership with
families through open communication and shared decision-making. Families are always welcome to ask questions, raise concerns, and collaborate with us to support their child’s wellbeing.

Supervision

Children are actively supervised at all times. We maintain educator-to-child ratios above regulatory requirements to ensure supervision is visible, consistent, and responsive across all learning environments. Children are never left alone with a single educator, supporting safe, accountable, and high-quality care

.

Ongoing Child Protection Training

All educators complete child protection training prior to commencing employment, with regular refresher training to ensure knowledge remains current. We value continuous learning to strengthen our ability to protect and support every child.

Environments Designed for Safety

Our learning spaces are intentionally designed to support safe and effective supervision, with open sightlines, glass panels, and clear visibility throughout the service. Any changes to the design or use of learning environments are thoughtfully planned and communicated in advance to ensure supervision, safety, and children’s wellbeing are always prioritised.

Respectful and Transparent Care Practices

Educators follow clear guidelines and boundaries, including additional safeguards for one-on-one interactions and personal care routines, ensuring children’s dignity and safety are always prioritised.

Careful Recruitment and Induction

We follow rigorous recruitment processes, including qualification verification, reference checks, Working with Children Checks, and comprehensive inductions before educators begin working with children.

Clear Expectations for Conduct

All staff and visitors are required to adhere to a Code of Conduct that clearly outlines expectations for professional, respectful, and child-safe behaviour at all times. This is supported by a shared working agreement, signed by all staff and regularly reflected upon, to strengthen professional conduct, accountability, and a culture of respectful practice across the service.
